Honda Ridgeline Specifications & Features
The 2024 Honda Ridgeline sits comfortably in the middle ground between a practical work companion and a weekend adventure sidekick. Its 280-hp V6 and AWD deliver a smooth ride, thanks to its underpinnings borrowed from the Odyssey minivan and Pilot three-row SUV. While its 5000-pound towing capacity falls short of some body-on-frame competitors like the Chevy Colorado and Jeep Gladiator, it generally suffices for most needs. Unlike the Ridgeline, competitors like the Colorado and Gladiator offer a dedicated off-road model. However, the Ridgeline’s carlike design excels in everyday tasks, providing comfort and refinement. It leaves the more intense off-road experiences to competitors with bulkier, more aggressive models. Overall, the Ridgeline strikes a balance, making it a versatile choice for daily use.
What’s New?
For a bit of off-road flair in 2024, Honda spiced up its Ridgeline with the TrailSport trim, although it’s not built for extreme off-roading. The TrailSport models now sport General Grabber A/T Sport all-terrain tires, extra underbody protection, and a cool Diffused Sky blue paint job. There’s also a fresh “Dual-Action” tailgate that opens down like usual but swings out like a door. Updates across trims feature a bigger center console and a Honda Performance Development (HPD) package, bringing a unique grille, black fender flares, exclusive wheels, and some seriously awesome HPD graphics. Perfect for those who want a touch of ruggedness without sacrificing style.
Honda Ridgeline Engine, Power & Performance
The Ridgeline sports a single-power combo. A 280-hp 3.5L V6 mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD, making it smooth and responsive, especially during hard accelerations. Opposing the pickup trend, the Ridgeline surprises you on the road, behaving more like a family crossover. Its coil-sprung rear suspension brings car-like ride quality, a departure from the leaf-sprung setups of competitors like Chevy, GMC, Jeep, and Ford. Minimal body lean in corners and a barely noticeable impact from small bumps add to the driving comfort. The electrically assisted steering is spot-on direct. While the Ridgeline excels dynamically, its braking performance is the lone hiccup, with a longer stopping distance from 70 mph to zero and a slightly soft pedal during regular use.
Honda Ridgeline Mileage
2024 Honda Ridgeline Mileage | City | Highway |
Ridgeline | 18 mpg | 24 mpg |
The Ridgeline’s fuel efficiency, at 18 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, positions it right in the middle of mid-size pickups, competing with a mix of V6s and turbocharged inline-four gas engines. All Ridgelines feature AWD and can tow up to 5000 pounds, which is notably less than competitors like the Chevy Colorado and Ford Ranger by 2000 to 2500 pounds. When it comes to payload, the Ridgeline can handle nearly 1600 pounds, comparable to the Colorado but falling short of the Ranger’s maximum capacity.

Every Ridgeline includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen system as standard, boasting a user-friendly design with a physical volume knob and simplified screen icons, according to Honda. While we haven’t personally tested this claim or the upgraded Display Audio system, it sounds promising. The Ridgeline also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard features. Additionally, specific models offer an in-bed audio system, perfect for elevating any tailgate gathering. This innovative system utilizes vibrating actuators to transform the cargo bed into a massive speaker.
Pricing

Sport | $41,000 (est) |
RTL | $44,000 (est) |

In the world of mid-size trucks, lots are the tough, off-road types. But the Ridgeline is for those who prefer a comfy and fuel-efficient option. The fancier models cost more, but we believe the RTL gives the best bang for your buck. It comes with cool stuff like heated seats, a leather interior, and adjustable front seats. So, if you want something cozy without breaking the bank, the RTL is the way to go.
