Behold the 2025 Mullen GT, an electric sports car from a startup eyeing U.S. deliveries by 2025 or 2026. Much like its automotive startup counterparts, Mullen’s narrative unfolds intricately. It commenced with the 2015 Shanghai debut of the Qiantu K50. A Great Wall Huaguan subsidiary that sold electric sports cars in China from 2018 to 2020. Fast forward to the 2019 New York Auto Show, where Mullen Automotive. A California-based enterprise, committed to importing kits and delivering fully certified examples by 2020.

As Mullen prepared to manufacture Chinese cargo vehicles in Mississippi, the K50 underwent a nomenclature evolution. Adopting names like Dragonfly K50, Mullen K50, Qiantu K50 by Mullen, or Mullen Dragonfly until March. Mullen’s engineer specifically selected the 19-inch center-lock wheels, Brembo brakes, and Pirelli P Zero tires. While faithfully adhering to Qiantu’s original concept in the remaining design, including the manufacturer’s etchings on the glass. On close examination, the sleek appearance of the Mullen GT mirrors the dimensions of a mid-engine car, reminiscent of an Acura NSX. Nevertheless, Mullen revised the GT’s performance outlook in March, making ambitious claims of an “EV supercar,” including a 1.95-second 0-60 mph sprint and speeds exceeding 200 mph. This coincided with Mullen regaining K50 selling rights and resolving a contract dispute, where it reportedly defaulted on almost $23 million owed to Qiantu post the New York debut. Subsequently, they tempered supercar expectations to 4.2 seconds for 0-60 mph acceleration and a top speed of 125 mph. This adjustment in performance figures aligns with Mullen’s legal developments and emphasizes a more realistic portrayal of the GT’s capabilities.
Mullen GT Price
Mullen plans to build the GT at the former AM General facility in Indiana, alongside producing the Five crossovers and Bollinger B1 and B2. To secure a GT reservation, one needs a mere $1000 deposit, with delivery expected in late 2025 or early 2026. Evaluating its viability in 2023, the Mullen GT seems promising but not certain, reflecting the challenges that emerging automakers face in the competitive American market. With numerous contenders acknowledging the formidable task of entering the U.S. automotive scene, success remains uncertain.
