Elon Musk Teased New Colors for Tesla cars as the automaker’s new Gigafactory Berlin will have the “world’s most advanced paint shop”, and manufacturing two new paint colors.

For the last couple of years of Model S, Tesla decided to streamline options and offers only a handful of color options that remained same. CEO Elon Musk, has been teasing about finally releasing the new colors.

Last Year, Three New Colors appeared in the Tesla app:

  • Deep Crimson Multicoat
  • Abyss Blue Multicoat
  • Mercury Silver Metallic

These colors might turn out to be the actual hues for the Model Y SUVs which would be rolling out fresh from the Gigafactory Berlin. The new hues will include a complex 13-layer red color as well as a “liquid” 8-layer silver. Musk further elaborated

” We have to be careful with the total number of colors, but we are going to make some special colors here, and it’s about more than the color itself, but the layers of paint in order to get the dimensionality. We are going to make a very special red, which probably a lot of a people have seen. It’s like 13 layers of paint. And we will also have a silver with maybe eight layers. It’s also going to be special – kind of a liquid silver. “

From the three leaked colors, two of them appeared but there was no mention of Abyss Blue. Moreover, his own Model S was snapped in a prototype Dark Red Hue just when Musk said that the Deep Crimson is his favorite color of the new multilayer ones that will be coming from the Gigafactory Berlin soon.
