Ola confidently states that both the S1 X and S1 Air house the same hub motor powertrain. While the initial disclosure mentioned a peak output of 4.5kW, Ola has since elevated this value to 6kW. However, the foundational model featuring the 2kWh battery pack not only offers reduced range but also presents diminished performance metrics, boasting a claimed top speed of 85 kmph.

Today marks the commencement of bookings for all three editions of the S1X, with the high-end S1X+ set for delivery by the end of September. The remaining two models, according to Ola, are expected to reach customers in December. The base S1 X comes with a starting price of Rs. 89,999 and boasts a certified range of 91km. On the other hand, the two upper-tier versions offer an extended range of 151km each.

The acceleration figures also match those of the Air, achieving 0-40kph in 3.3 seconds. A notable departure is the absence of a TFT touchscreen, commonly found in Ola’s higher-end models, replaced by a simpler and cost-effective LCD. Additionally, the S1 X incorporates a greater amount of unpainted black plastics compared to the S1 Air, contributing to further cost reduction.

During its initial launch, information indicated that the S1 Air featured a wheel hub-mounted motor with a peak power of 4.5kW. However, the company has since revised this figure to a higher peak output of 6kW. Although this is less than the S1 Pro’s 8.5kW, the company asserts a top speed of 90kph. While in motion, the riding experience remains notably familiar.

The performance remains robust, securing its position as one of the swiftest e-scooters available – a fact that should satisfy most users. Notably, the motor’s operational sound is slightly subdued compared to the S1 Pro, though it does emit a high-pitched electronic noise that might not be to everyone’s preference.

Priced at Rs. 1.2 Lakhs, the S1 Air’s initial specifications stated a 2.98kWh battery, guaranteeing a certified range of 125km. However, the company’s current assertion raises the certified range to 151km. Ola asserts distinct ranges for various modes: 125km in Eco, 100km in Normal, and 87km in Sport. Charging times at home are estimated at 3.8 hours to reach 80 percent and 5 hours for a full charge.

It’s worth noting, however, that the Hyper mode is exclusive to models other than the Air.
