2023 BMW M2 Teased, And Will Be Made In Mexico

The 2023 BMW M2 teaser is out. It will be made in Mexico

Overview

A couple of months back BMW introduced the new 2022 BMW 2 Series. It’s not too much time since that. BMW is working on next year’s installment. The 2023 BMW M2 is the more aggressive sibling of the entry-level German coupe. And as you can see with the new spy shots, the company seems to be doing some final touches on the car.

Just yesterday we saw a prototype of the upcoming 2023 BMW M2 lapping the Nurburgring. It was being chased by the upcoming M4 CSL. And today only the brand has confirmed it with the teaser images of the car. This time the entry-level performance coupe will be made in Mexico.

The second-generation M2 coupe will be assembled for the entire world exclusively at the BMW’s San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico. It is scheduled to hit production by the end of this year. This isn’t new at all. The BMW 3 Series and the BMW 2 Series have been assembled there. So this will be the third BMW to be produced there. BMW is expected to hire over 800 employees for the M2’s production alone.

The starting of production of the new 2023 M2 will also mark the celebrations of BMW M’s 50th anniversary. “We are very excited to be part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of M, now that our Mexican plant will build M vehicles for the whole world,” Harald Gottsche, President and CEO of BMW’s San Luis Potosí plant said.

Engine, Transmission & Power

As for the new M2, the second generation model is expected to be the last performance car to be purely driver-oriented. It will come with a rear-wheel drive with a manual six-speed transmission. The M2 will offer an improved and powerful 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine that’ll make 450 horsepower. And rumour suggests that the Competition model will be even more wildish than M2.  It’s still not clear about the launch of the 2023 BMW M2. We’ll update you once we have the full information regarding that.
