Nissan X Trail SUV Set to Make a Grand Return to India

Nissan X Trail will launch in India soon with a Grand Entry

Nissan is gearing up to reintroduce its flagship SUV, the X Trail, to the Indian market. This move is part of Nissan’s strategy to showcase three SUVs in India, with the X Trail joining the ranks alongside the Qashqai and Juke. The X Trail will be brought into India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and will enter the competitive SUV market where it will contend with vehicles such as the Volkswagen Tiguan, Hyundai Tucson, Skoda Kodiaq, Citroen C5 Aircross, and more.

Built on the CMF-C/D platform, the same platform as Renault’s Koleos, the fourth-generation Nissan X Trail boasts a sleek and modern design. The vehicle features a distinctive V-shaped grille, LED headlights, roof rails, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Available in both five-seater and seven-seater configurations in India, the X Trail measures 4680 mm in length and 1725 mm in width.

Engine Options for Dynamic Performance

The X Trail offers two engine options: a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with a mild hybrid system and a 1.5-litre e-Power strong hybrid unit engine. The turbo petrol engine produces 163 PS power and 300 Nm torque, while the e-Power engine delivers 204 PS power and 300 Nm torque. The e-Power unit also offers a 4WD system option that produces 525 Nm of torque. Both engine options come paired with a CVT gearbox, propelling the X Trail from 0 to 100 kmph in just 7 seconds, with a top speed of 170 kmph.

The X Trail prioritizes safety with features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, brake assist, traction control, hill start assist, hill descent control, tire pressure monitoring system, and an electric parking brake. Inside the X Trail, Nissan introduces the Pro Pilot system, a semi-autonomous driving system capable of managing steering, acceleration, and braking in various driving conditions.

Anticipated Launch and Pricing

While Nissan has not officially announced the launch date, industry expectations suggest the X Trail will hit the Indian market in early 2024 or late 2023. With an estimated starting price of ₹40 lakh ex-showroom, the Nissan X Trail will attract customers seeking a luxurious, spacious, and feature-packed SUV.
